Passage: Philippians 2:19-24 | Series: | Topic: ,

Main Text: Philippians 2:19-24

Main Idea: Timothy is an encouraging example of what it means to be like Jesus.

1. We all _________________ encouragement! (vs. 19 & 23-24)

[19] I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, so that I too may be cheered by news of you.
[23] I hope therefore to send him just as soon as I see how it will go with me, [24] and I trust in the Lord that shortly I myself will come also.

3 John 2–4: [2] Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. [3] For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth. [4] I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.

2. A personal _______________________ of Christlikeness is a powerful encouragement. (vs. 20-22)

[20] For I have no one like him, who will be genuinely concerned for your welfare. [21] For they all seek their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. [22] But you know Timothy's proven worth, how as a son with a father he has served with me in the gospel.

Today’s Lunch Discussion: In what area of your life do you need encouragement today? Are you caring well for your own soul? Who do you have in your life that looks like Jesus? Where do you see the grace of God in those closest to you? How are you genuinely caring for the welfare of others? How are you focused on the mission of Jesus? Are you a powerful example of what it means to look like Jesus? If not, what do you need to repent of?
